Dear Futuraskolan International School Community,

It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you all to another exciting year of learning and growth at Futuraskolan International School of Stockholm.

To our returning learners and families, welcome back! We’re thrilled to continue our educational journey together. To our new learners and families, a warm welcome to our vibrant community!

As Mrs MacDonald, Principal stated in her Welcome Letter, that we are pursuing our 2nd re-accreditation for the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) through the International Curriculum Association (ICA).

Here are some key aspects of our curriculum include:

Inquiry-Based Learning: Our curriculum encourages learners to ask questions, explore ideas, and develop critical thinking skills through hands-on experiences.

Global Perspective: We emphasize international mindedness, helping our learners understand different cultures and global issues.

Personal Learning Goals: Our curriculum focuses on developing skills such as resilience, ethics, and communication, preparing learners for success in an ever-changing world.

These elements aim to challenge and inspire all our learners while providing an excellent foundation for new learners joining our community.

In addition to our curriculum, which focuses on developing essential skills and inspiring our learners, we recognize the importance of a strong school community. To that end, our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) plays a vital role in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all.

Building Our Community Through the PTA:

Our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) plays a vital role in fostering a strong, inclusive school community and supporting our mission. We encourage all parents, both new and returning, to get involved with the PTA and consider becoming a Class Parent. Your involvement is crucial for:

  1. Bridging the gap between returning families and those new to our school
  2. Supporting and organizing school initiatives, events, and fundraisers
  3. Enhancing learner achievement through various programs
  4. Promoting active parent and family involvement
  5. Facilitating effective communication between parents and school
  6. Advocating for the needs of all learners and families

Back-to-School Nights provide perfect opportunities for families to connect with teachers and fellow parents, fostering a sense of belonging. We welcome and value input from all our families, as your engagement helps shape our school environment and supports all our learners.

To get involved or learn more about the PTA, please contact them at pta.international@futuraskolan.se. Regular meetings and events will be announced through our school communication channel, Schoolsoft.

I am confident that this year will be filled with exciting learning opportunities, new friendships, and memorable experiences for all our learners.

Let’s work together to make this year a resounding success!

Respectfully,

Veronna Pomeroy

Vice Principal
